A Brazilian classic that never gets old

Oi, Gente!

If you've ever been to a Brazilian churrascaria or a family gathering where the table is packed with food, you've probably seen salada de palmito sitting right there somewhere.

It's that classic salad that quietly shows up everywhere like restaurants, potlucks, Sunday lunches...

It's fresh, crisp, full of tang, and also endlessly customizable... so much so that growing up our hearts of palm salads hardly ever looked or tasted the same.

That's what I love about it. There's no single "right" way to make it.

Hearts of Palm Salad (Salada de Palmito)

In my version for the site you'll find tender hearts of palm, cherry tomatoes, olives, crisp lettuce, all tossed in a garlicky oregano vinaigrette. But I encourage you to try and play with it and make it yours.

Mix in some canned tuna for a light meal, throw in some avocado or cucumber, swap the greens... whatever you like.

🔥 Try It With These:

Pan Seared Chicken

The midweek hero. Juicy, golden chicken that cooks in minutes and turns that crisp salada de palmito into a full, satisfying dinner.

Pan Seared Salmon

Crispy on the outside, tender and buttery inside. A small upgrade that turns that fresh hearts of palm salad into a really satisfying dinner.

Fillet Mignon Steaks

Thick, juicy filet mignon with a beautiful seared crust. The kind of steak that turns that same fresh salad into a proper weekend dinner.

This Week's Highlights:

  • This cake tastes like sunshine in cake form. A cozy classic you’ll want on repeat.
  • Spring in the kitchen = fresh faves 👇🏽Check out our spring kitchen must haves shopping list👇🏽

Oi, Gente! Everyone knows Brazilians love their brigadeiro. It’s an undeniable part of our DNA. But rolling dozens of little balls and coating them in sprinkles? That’s a whole other story. I know I don’t always have the patience for it. Growing up, my mom skipped all the rolling and just made brigadeirão instead. Same chocolatey brigadeiro flavor, just turned into a silky, sliceable dessert that you pour into a pan and let the oven do the work. No standing over the stovetop, stirring for 20...

Oi, Gente! This week I've been recipe testing a very special dessert 👀 which means I had no time to think about dinners. So, I relied on my almighty chimichurri, and this baked chimichurri salmon has reigned supreme here almost every night 😬 It’s bright, herby, and packed with flavor, perfect for a weeknight, since the chimichurri does most of the heavy lifting. Spoon it on, bake, done. If you already have leftover chimichurri, like I always do, even better. If not, it takes five minutes to...

Oi, Gente! One of the recipes people are loving this week is my arroz doce cremoso... Brazilian Rice Pudding It’s creamy, gently spiced, sweetened with condensed milk, and comes together in under 30 minutes. It’s the kind of recipe that works as dessert, an afternoon sweet, or something you keep in the fridge and scoop into a bowl whenever you feel like it. If you haven’t made it yet, this might be your sign. P.S. I just posted a new video showing how to make Brazilian collard greens. Watch...
