From Leftovers to Something New

Oi, Gente!

Christmas is behind us, and I'm betting a lot of you are feeling that post-holiday cooking hangover. You know the one... where you never want to see another pot or pan again? πŸ˜…

I know I'll be living off leftovers and UberEats this weekend while I catch up on all things Stranger Things.

But before we fully collapse into couch mode, I wanted to share what ended up being the most popular Christmas recipes this year.

These four were THE absolute favorites:

Did any of these surprise you?

I'll admit, beijinhos de coco making the top 3 surprised me a little, but I'm here for it! They're fantastic. And rabanadas? Didn't even crack the top 10 last year, but now they're right where they belong. Love that for them.

Picanha roast being up there makes perfect sense... it's beautiful, fairly easy, and very on brand. And pudim? Well, that one's always near the top around major holidays. (I made it too, so... guilty as charged 😬)

If you made any of these, or anything else from the blog, I'd love if you could leave a quick rating and comment. It helps other readers see that real people (other than me) actually made the recipe and that it's worth trying.

Don't toss your leftovers!!

Now, if you're staring at leftovers and actually have the energy to transform them into something new, here are some easy ideas:

Leftover ham? Turn it into arroz maluco (Brazilian fried rice). It's delicious, totally customizable, and works great with leftover rice too, so... basically a full cleanup dish!

Leftover panettone? Make bread pudding or French toast. Both are warm, indulgent, and honestly feel like dessert for breakfast.

Oi, Gente! Ground beef is one of those universally loved, affordable ingredients making it the MVP of midweek meals. It was one of my favorite things to eat growing up, and my mom's favorite ingredient to cook with during the week. She loved making this ensopado de carninha moΓda com azeitona (juicy ground beef with olives) because it was that easy enough thing to make even after a long workday. And now, me too! My master tip: I always make more than one batch, to have leftovers to freeze or...

Oi, Gente! We're officially in that part of winter where it's just... cold and gross... ugh... But that's when Brazilian stews really shine. They're warming, comforting, and exactly what January needs. Here are two I've been thinking about this week: Ensopado de Frango This Brazilian Chicken Stew is super simple, super comforting, and no fancy ingredients required. It's chicken thighs and drumsticks in a luscious broth with potatoes and veggies. One pot, minimal fuss, and the leftovers are...

Oi, Gente! It's soup season, and since you're a regular here, I know you've got some leftover beans in your freezer. Right? RIGHT? πŸ‘€ And if you don't... here's your sign to really turn having beans on hand into a weekly, or bi-weekly habit. It helps so much. Making a pot of beans is one of the steps in my "1-hour weekly prep" (you can watch the video with my "meal prep" strategy here). I love it because, when you've got beans ready to go, weeknight soups like these come together fast. Here's...
