Recipes to Add to Your Weekly Rotation This Year

Oi, Gente!

Happy New Year! ✨

January usually has me setting up those good intentions that come with a fresh start, like...

eating better, saving money, cooking simpler things to ease me back into a routine.

So this week I want to share with you my go-to recipes that are actually worth keeping in your rotation if those are your goals, too. They're the kind of recipes that make weeknight cooking easier, less expensive and more flavorful.

Big Batch Vegetable Proteins

My go-to meatless proteins that work for everything are black beans and lentils.

Make a batch to portion and freeze or use it all week in salads, grain bowls, soups, tacos, whatever. It's cheap, easy, and way more flavorful than anything from a can.

Easy Salad Dressing

A good salad dressing recipe is worth having in your back pocket, especially when you want to switch things up beyond the usual olive oil and vinegar situation.

My go-to is usually this avocado salad dressing 🥑

It takes two minutes to make, tastes way better than anything from a bottle, and goes with nearly everything!

Foolproof Brown Rice

If you've been intimidated by brown rice, this method makes it easy.

It's pretty hands off and the rice comes out fluffy and perfect every time. No more mushy, undercooked, or burnt rice! Once you nail this, it becomes a regular side you can count on.

Brazilian Chicken Seasoning

When you need flavor fast, this is what you reach for.

This chicken seasoning a simple spice blend you can make in bulk and keep in your pantry. No thinking required! Just grab it whenever you need to turn plain chicken into something GREAT!

These aren't flashy or trendy, they're just the kind of recipes that make everyday cooking less stressful and more delicious.

Oi, Gente! Ground beef is one of those universally loved, affordable ingredients making it the MVP of midweek meals. It was one of my favorite things to eat growing up, and my mom's favorite ingredient to cook with during the week. She loved making this ensopado de carninha moída com azeitona (juicy ground beef with olives) because it was that easy enough thing to make even after a long workday. And now, me too! My master tip: I always make more than one batch, to have leftovers to freeze or...

Oi, Gente! We're officially in that part of winter where it's just... cold and gross... ugh... But that's when Brazilian stews really shine. They're warming, comforting, and exactly what January needs. Here are two I've been thinking about this week: Ensopado de Frango This Brazilian Chicken Stew is super simple, super comforting, and no fancy ingredients required. It's chicken thighs and drumsticks in a luscious broth with potatoes and veggies. One pot, minimal fuss, and the leftovers are...

Oi, Gente! It's soup season, and since you're a regular here, I know you've got some leftover beans in your freezer. Right? RIGHT? 👀 And if you don't... here's your sign to really turn having beans on hand into a weekly, or bi-weekly habit. It helps so much. Making a pot of beans is one of the steps in my "1-hour weekly prep" (you can watch the video with my "meal prep" strategy here). I love it because, when you've got beans ready to go, weeknight soups like these come together fast. Here's...
